Bouça Social Housing
Photographer
2018
Fully completed in 2007, Bouça's history dates back to 1970s. As part of Serviço de Apoio Ambulatorio Local (SAAL)'s program, the aim was to build housing complexes for poor people and slum dwellers. In connection with that, Álvaro Siza was in charge of designing one in Bouça.
During my photographic documentation, I spent more than an hour walking around, understanding the building and capturing its essence. I remember how almost unsafe I felt after I left metro and came closer to the building. I hesitated for a while to step in but once I pushed myself to do so, Bouça opened its arms as in the courtyard and offered me its environment to photograph.
